Summary: "Sometimes the best approach to breaking free of the old formula and addressing a new market is through a new subsidiary or new operating unit that has been given substantial autonomy--and no rule book."
Bazerman, M.H.and Moore D.A.(2009). Judgment in Managerial Decision Making. 7th Edition.
Summary: "Fortunately, psychological research has uncovered many of the clever and sophisticated shortcuts on which our brains rely to help us get through the day--as well as common errors that even bright people make on a regular basis. These errors can lead to minor problems, such as choosing the wrong product or the wrong investment. They also can contribute to big problems, such as bankruptcy, government inefficiency, and social injustice."

2. Identify the criteria
3. Weight the criteria
4. Generate alternatives
5. Rate each alternative on each criterion
6.Compute the optimal decision.

Reiman J. and Leighton, P. (2013). The Rich Get Richer and The Poor Get Prison.
Ideology, Class, and Criminal Justice.
Summary: Can we honestly act as if we do not know that our prison system (including our failure to ensure a meaningful post-release noncriminal alternative for the ex-con) is a source of crime? Should we really pretend, then, that we do not know why ex-cons turn to crime? Recidivism does not happen because, from crime, one would expect that ex-prisoners would be the most deterred because the deprivations of prison are more real to them than to the rest of us. Reciddivism is thus a doubly poignant testimony to the job that prison does in preparing its graduates for crime, yet we do little to change the nature of prisons or to provide real services to ex-convicts.

King, ML.Jr. (1963). Strength to Love. Chapter 1. A Tough Mind and a Tender Heart
Summary: "The soft-minded man always fears change. He feels security in the status quo, and he has an almost morbid fear of the new. For him, the greatest pain is the pain of a new idea. An elderly segregationist in the South is reported to have said, "I have come to see now that desegregation is inevitable. But I pray--God that it will not take place until after I die." The soft-minded person always wants to freeze the moment and hold life in the gripping yoke of sameness."
